Program Itinerary:

8:00am - 8:45am: Breakfast and Networking

8:45am - 10:15am: Testing Demonstration and Tour

Bring the following:

  • Closed toe shoes
  • Hard hat 
  • Eye protection
  • (Note: Limited number of hard hats and eye protection will be provided; please bring your own if possible)

 

About this Course
This session will combine a presentation on testing, how it relates to Code and
Standards it refers to, as well as practical insight into what a testing laboratory
processes for testing, the requirements and accreditation it must meet, and how
the testing sequence for different applications is performed. The participants will
also observe, subject to availability, a test being conducted and explanation what
the test criteria, test objectives for the sample being observed, and how the
testing results are reported and how to utilize typical test data.

  • Learning Objective 1:
    Overview to help understand that many standards have been developed to
    determine a material or system's strength, acoustic performance, moisture,
    thermal and fire resistance, and how the standards also call out for specific
    testing protocols for validation
  • Learning Objective 2:
    Observe procedures for impact and cycling testing for windows, doors, skylights
    and shutters which are affected by windstorm debris, as examples of testing
    protocols to validate conformance to the related Standard(s)
  • Learning Objective 3:
    Understand how third-party oversight can help ensure a better constructed
    building through the review of drawings, calculations as well as how performing
    field testing validates the product performance in place as well as proper
    installation in accordance to its listing
  • Learning Objective 4:
    Learn what steps are involved in determining envelope failures through
    investigative forensic methods, how field testing in accordance to established
    protocols, use of lab test reports and how proper observations can determine
    cause and remediation of a failed installation
